Michael R. McCarthy (“Mike”) was born August 27, 1951 in Hancock, Iowa. He is the chairman and co-founder of an investment firm based in Omaha, NE, McCarthy Group, LLC, which manages nearly $500 million USD in assets.
McCarthy graduated from College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota. In 1986 he co-founded McCarthy Group, LLC, with Rich Jarvis. He is responsible for the management of McCarthy Group and chairman of the underwriting committee. McCarthy is on the board of directors of Cabela's, Election Systems & Software, Inc., Peter Kiewit Sons', Inc., and Union Pacific Corporation. McCarthy was a director of HDR, Inc. and Streck.
McCarthy also serves on the board of directors for several nonprofit community organizations. They include the Omaha Community Foundation, Heritage Services, Inc., Joslyn Art Museum, and Creighton University.
